Problem
Limited insights into candidates' personalities prevent HR teams from making fully informed hiring decisions.
To facilitate this, a mobile application was developed, allowing candidates to complete psychometric tests seamlessly. The app is intuitive and available across multiple platforms, making the process convenient and efficient for both HR managers and candidates.
Once the tests are completed, the data is automatically integrated into the Rikta system, where it is analyzed and presented as easy-to-understand reports. This empowers employers to make more informed decisions based not only on resumes but also on a deep understanding of the candidate's personality traits.

For Rikta, we conducted user research to identify core needs and usability preferences among HR professionals, revealing the following insights:

HR professionals seek clear comparative data to benchmark candidate profiles against top performers, aiming to make well-informed hiring decisions with minimal guesswork. They value side-by-side comparisons for efficient profile evaluation.
Users require digestible personality insights that help clarify a candidate’s fit within a team, with visual breakdowns to quickly grasp personality traits and compatibility.
Easy-to-interpret personality data
Personalized and intuitive navigation
HR teams appreciate a highly navigable interface that allows for seamless filtering and sorting. They want a personalized view that supports identifying and prioritizing key candidate strengths.
Insights
Our findings clarified what data is critical for HR to develop personal profiles and gauge each candidate's fit for this role.
After uncovering insights from user research, I analyzed and synthesized the results to align with Rikta’s goal of improving hiring processes. By grouping data into themes, I identified key patterns and drew actionable conclusions.

Understanding what chart type better reflects personality trait comparison
I organised a user research where participants were shown different types of charts. Users evaluated each graphic based on clarity, ease of understanding, and effectiveness in highlighting differences between their performance and top performer.

Vertical bar chart
Displays individual trait levels for a single candidate, with each bar representing a different trait. While straightforward, users might misinterpret higher bars as indicative of a better candidate overall, even though certain roles may value specific traits more than others.

Bubble chart
Uses bubbles to represent data points, with position and size indicating values. While useful for displaying relationships between two variables, it may not be ideal for representing multiple personality traits simultaneously.

Spider chart (Radar chart)
This format allows for a holistic view of a candidate's personality profile and shows how the candidate matches with other profiles. Making it easier to identify strengths and weaknesses across traits. However, comparing multiple candidates on the same chart can become cluttered.

Diverging bar chart
May be challenging for users unfamiliar with this chart type to interpret, especially when multiple profiles are displayed. Additionally, users might mistakenly perceive longer bars as representing a superior candidate overall, which is not necessarily accurate.

Dot plot chart
Presenting personality traits as a dot plot chart is effective, with opposing or complementary characteristics labeled on each side. This format clearly shows where an individual leans and allows for comparison of multiple profiles using distinct color-coded dots.

Line chart
Connects data points with lines, typically used to show trends over time. Since personality traits are not time-series data, line charts may not be suitable for this purpose.

Based on user research and feedback from stakeholder, we selected the dot plot chart as the primary visualization for presenting personality traits.
